Leavening is a working farming village dating back to the 11th Century based at the foot of the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds. Well known for its unbeatable rural pub, the Jolly Farmers, and easy access to beautiful views over the Vale of York the village has grown in recent years to accommodate a diverse community of residents.
With easy access to various cycling routes and walking trails in the Yorkshire Wolds as well as tourist attractions in Ryedale and East Yorkshire, Leavening has a rich rural history and is well-loved by all those who live and visit the village and parish.
The Parish Council has the responsibility to represent the views of parish residents and plays an advisory role where matters arise in the village - from planning to management of green spaces, the Parish Council meets quarterly to discuss business and ensure residents have a voice at North Yorkshire County Council level.
